An Independently Connected Network of Businesses in Mid Devon

Who we are

Mid Devon Network (MDN) is a group of independent business people who choose to meet together on a regular basis in order to share effective leads, business knowledge and referrals. We are a “data controller” for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“Data Protection Law”). We are committed to protect your personal information and make every effort to ensure that your personal information is processed in a fair, open and transparent manner.

What information we collect

When you contact us initially we ask for your name, your email address and your telephone number. This is used for us to reply to you and invite you to attend any of our meetings. If you choose to join us we ask for some non-personal business information and invite you to include a photo of yourself, if you wish, which we will display on the Business Profiles section of our website.

How we use your personal data

Members

The club officers each have a copy of the list of members which they use for the club administration including inviting members to upcoming meetings and sending updates following recent meetings. Data held by Richard Pym is on the NFU Mutual servers, which are fully protected and meet GDPR requirements. Members’ names and email addresses are entered into a MailChimp list for ease of bulk mailing notifications of future club events and any other club administration. Members can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.

Guests

The secretary also has a list of guests who are to be, or who have been invited to attend meetings. These guests are invited to events by personal emails or telephone calls and may request at any time that they should not be contacted further, and their personal data removed from our records.

At and after each meeting a list of attendees’ names, phone numbers and email addresses is provided to all who attended to support the objectives of the network. Members are asked to handle this personal data with care and not to use it for any purpose other than one-to-one business communications. It may not be published elsewhere, transferred to any other organisation nor used for bulk marketing or personal gain
MDN uses MailChimp (based in USA and a signatory to the EU-US Privacy Shield framework) for bulk mailing. MDN does not share your personal data with, nor does it transfer it to any other organisation.

If you ask us to remove your personal data from our systems we will do so immediately and cease contacting you. If you choose not to continue your membership we will remove your personal data from our systems within a month. Our officers, members and guests may continue to hold your personal data in paper or electronic format in their personal archive.
