The Be Ready Employer Hub is a free support service for Employers based in Devon. It is designed to help businesses of all sizes (existing and start-ups), charities, social enterprises and public sector organisations to understand the benefits of recruiting and retaining people with disabilities or long-term health conditions.

We provide a combination of online practical information and updates with training workshops and networks designed for specific aspects of disability awareness for employers. These services include:

  • Disability Awareness Training, split into two courses:

    • Disability and Employment - a 4-part series (with a 5th optional module) designed for business owners, Directors and Managers. Topics covered include the Equality Act, how to apply for the Access to Work grant, what Reasonable Adjustments are, inclusive Recruitment and Job Carving, raising your business profile with the Disability Confident award, plus an optional workshop on Language and Communication.

    • Accessibility for Websites - this workshop provides a non-technical insight into why and how a website can be made accessible.

  • B2B Learning Networks - monthly facilitated meetings for business owners and managers to take a deeper dive into understanding disability and employment. Outcomes will include progression through the Disability Confident awards.

  • We also host an online library of information, data, resources and tools to help employers recruit and retain disabled people.

  • If you have a specific question, you can call us direct on 01392 241124. If we cannot provide an answer, we will find someone who can.

All of our services remain free of charge.  Whilst we have been limited in how we deliver our services during the Covid-19 lockdown, we continue to provide employer support online and via our Call-back service. On-site services will resume once the pandemic restrictions have been lifted.
